Inelco Hunter has introduced the ProTek Devices PLR0502 ultra-low capacitance, <1pF steering diode TVS array. It is available in an ultra-small SOT-543 package sized at 1.6mm x 1.6mm. This is a 52% saving in PCB area over the SOT-143 package.

The PLR0502 is designed to protect applications such as wireless telecommunication devices, PCMCIA cards, portable electronics and digital cameras. 

The PLR0502 is ideally suited to protect USB data I/O ports against ESD and EFT, specifically USB and USB OTG (On-The-Go) applications. It can also be used to protect video inputs as in the case of HDMI applications.

This device meets the requirements of IEC 61000-4-2 (ESD) and 61000-4-4 (EFT). At higher operating frequencies or faster edge rates, insertion loss and signal integrity are a major concern. The PLR0502 has an ultra-low 0.6pF Capacitance per I/O measured to ground. 

This device in conjunction with passive components integrated into a TVS/filter network can be used for EMI/RFI protection. Packaged in the small SOT-543 plastic case, the device should be placed near a connector or a sensitive IC component.
